Thanks!!Need advice for nursing 1st year? tips and advice for these questions?
Hello there. I don't know the exact courses you are taking, but each professor/teacher uses a different text book. Especially certain schools repeatedly use a certain book year after year. If you get on the WebAdvisor and see who your teachers will be for the nursing courses, or contact the nursing department at your college, they can refer you to your instructor. Then, email them or call the college phone # and see if you can get in touch with them.

I actually already did this for my nursing courses starting in January - I already ordered the book off amazon.com (way cheaper than any other website that I found) and have began reading through it in my spare time. I must get an A!!!

Most textbooks can be anywhere from $40-200. It all depends. If the teacher says you need the most recent edition, it will cost more. If you are allowed to get an older edition, the book will be cheaper. When you discover what books you do need, get on amazon.com and half.com. They are both excellent places to find textbooks.

Good luck in your first year of nursing school! I wish you the best!

Don't buy anything other than what is required / suggested for your courses. You won't have time to use them because you'll be so consumed with your course books, and you'll just be overloading yourself with information. Sometimes books can contradict one another slightly as well, such as for normal ranges on vital signs or blood counts, etc. So you'll want to be sure you're learning what your course books are teaching.

As for purchasing books, I ALWAYS found my books cheaper on eBay or Amazon. Take a chance and buy used but advertise as like-new. You can spend half as much as even the used price at your school's bookstore. Just make sure you're buying the right edition. Your books will run anywhere from $20-$300 for a single course. It's very expensive. But you can sell them back to your school or sell them over eBay or Amazon or Craigslist.
I would look over classes of drugs, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers etc.

Know your anatomy and physiology

My first semester nursing school books were like $600 or $700. But remember, this is when you get all your reference books like medication book, medication dictionary etc. They were still expensive later, but not nearly as bad.

Check bigwords.com. I found a few used ones there from time to time.

Buy second hand books, but make sure it is not very outdated.
