I'm thinking in pursing a career in Nursing.What can I expect from this career?Is it hard?Tips & advice please

I garduated from high school in 2004 and went to college for a year-from fall 2004 to spring 2005--and then took 3 semesters off....now I want to go back and major in Nursing. What should I do to prepare for it?


I hear the word 'clinicals' used by nursing students...what does that mean...what is it?


Please tell me everything there is about a major in Nursing.. Looking for encouragement, info, advice, and tips please about the field of nursing.

i would recomend finding a school that does nursing. start with taking anatomy/physiology. there are alot of classes that may help. i know some people who took an EMT class first just to see if this is the kind of thing they wanted to get into... plus its a great way to start, and learn the basics. and you will definitly know if you wanna do it when you get into the clinicals, which is the hands on stuffI'm thinking in pursing a career in Nursing.What can I expect from this career?Is it hard?Tips %26amp; advice please
it's not a horrible field to go into. you gotta wanna help people and you'll enjoy the job and find it rewarding. you gotta be able to handle upset families, rude and all, doctors (we all know how they can be) handle life and death. you're gonna see things that you may not wanna see so hopefully you'll have the stomach to do so. Clinicals mean that you'll go to a facility and do hands on work. you'll work along side of a nurse and do the work as though you were already licensed. there is someone there to help and answer any questions you might have. my suggestion is start off by being a CNA. you'll be a good nurse starting off that way. you'll understand what everyone does to do what's neccessary and if you're a great nurse, you won't let that title get to your head, you can be a RN and still do CNA work when they need help, that contributes to you being great!! you can either be an RN or an LPN. RN's get paid more money, their level of responsibility is a little higher, hence the more money. you can do all different areas of nursing whether you work in ER or OB or peds. but keep in mind, you may need to be an RN to do some of those areas.
