frankly i suck at basketball and i've tried everything (maybe im too short after all) but practice makes perfect. use our techniques and be consistent. once you getrel good switch it up a bit... move backward a step or 2...Can anyone give me any advice for basketball shooting or links to places I can find tips?
well you have to get form and push the ball up with force of the hand you use.
here is what you do

you stand in a angle

then put your left hand on the side

then your right hand facing you

then shoot with a bounce

i no these are bad instructions sorry:)
Keep in mind that when you're shooting, you're the one in control. No one else is.

It seems like a silly tip, but it really rather helped me. %26lt;3
Sure. Here are some tips:

You want to use your legs in your shot. If it's a jump shot, you want to push off hard with your legs.

If you are right handed, hold the underside of the ball with your right hand and support it with your left on the left side of the ball.

Start with your arms bent at the elbows at about 45 degrees and once you push off, fully extend your arms and roll the ball out of your right hand.

You should really flick the ball off your hand.

The follow through is important. You need to flick your wrist all the way.

Meanwhile before you initiate your shot you need to focus on the top of the rim and keep your focus there throughout your shot. Practice while keeping form at the end of your shot to evaluate your follow through.

Good luck.
maybe u shud ask someone who works at ur gym, their prolly pro's
Watch video is not going to change anything all you need to do is get u form right and shoot.
YMCA
Before you start practicing you shot work on your physical strength and jumping. this will greatly help your shooting. you should be able to bench atleast your weight unless you are still growing you should wait until you do weight training but you could still do push ups and squat jumps, but form should still be practiced. Bend your knees and bring the ball up as you explode into the air. Keep your elbow in at a 90 degree angle. when you release, flick your wrist and have your thumb and pinky parallel to the floor. Don't forget to keep the ball from touching your palms because you get more control that way, but have your hand under the ball so it looks like it is touching your palm, but slightly raise you fingers so your palm doesn't touch the palm. Remember to have a smooth release and release the ball at the peak of your jump. Whatever you do DON'T SHOOT AS YOU'RE GOING DOWN. Also when you shoot you should have no wasted movement and your shot should feel natural. if you are having trouble then you should watch how NBA players shoot, but you should watch players like JJ Reddick players that are pure shooters. DO NOT WATCH LeBRON!!! you shooting form takes months of practice and diligence. if your not truly commited, then give up. first practice your form with close range shots then gradually increase the distance as soon as you have your form down THEN you should start shooting around 200-300 shots a day. Remember the best shooters in the NBA don't always have perfect form, but they do have good form.
Here's some advice, get a hoop. If you have one... shoot at it. Eventually you will find a shot that works for you. Once you find this shot, perfect it, make it your own. Then when it comes to game time, don't be afraid to showcase it.
Well my high school coach always taught me to make a ';T'; with your thumbs. Therefore while holding the ball, one hand will be placed as if you are telling someone to ';stop'; and the other hand will be placed on the outside part of the ball. This will make a T formation with your thumbs. (note that your thumbs are not touching but if they were they'd form a T)
Try google.com and flick yourf wrist into a hook shape when shooting! spin the ball!

PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE
dont rely on somebasketball video tips or soomething like that.Get a hoop or go to your nearest basketball court then practice everyday your shooting. At leats 250 shots a day if you have time. Be patient to your shooting, just make your own stroke if your comfortable then stick with it. My type of shot is high arc,you can try that because it has a lot of benefits like reducing being block. You just need a strong Triceps work on that you need that to power up your shooting and endurance so if it is clutch time you still have control of your shooting. Goodluck remember be patient
Pete Maravich has great learning videos on how to shoot.
