My husband and I are proud parents of a fifteen month old boy. In the fall, we are going to start trying to baby #2, however we want to clean up our finances a little, and get things organized. With this economy we have been hurting a little, but we really do not want to wait much longer, any advice?Getting ready for Baby #2, Money Saving Tips, Advice?
If your credit is good you should start applying for cards that have 0% on balance transfers %26amp; get rid of those high interest cards. If you can't get any better cards then call the ones you already have %26amp; ask them to lower the APR. It worked for me on a couple of them only but it still helped.
Look up your utility companies %26amp; see if they offer lower income services. I switched to the care program %26amp; saved a lot on electric. Also my fiance just called our cable company (Time Warner) and pitched a huge fit over how much they were charging. He told them to cancel the whole thing %26amp; the guy ended up taking all sorts of stuff off our bill so we wouldn't cancel. You could try that. He removed all the fees for the boxes %26amp; remotes %26amp; gave us a special on premium channels. Our bill went from $180/mo to $97/mo. That's a lot of money.
Since gas prices are so bad you should start choosing one day for errands %26amp; then do them all in a circle starting from your house. You can't believe how much you waste driving back %26amp; forth or going out of your way on too many days.
The biggest thing I ever did to save was this thing called the Grocery Game. You need time for this though because you have to diligently cut coupons. I got the early Sunday paper on Saturday, cut the coupons %26amp; then got my list from the website %26amp; shopped on Sundays only. It matches current sales with coupons to get you things for almost nothing %26amp; sometimes even free, like toothpaste might be $2.50 %26amp; you'll get it for 49 cents. I'll give you the link. Also when shopping buy whole chickens %26amp; cut them yourself rather than buying the expensive chicken breasts. Look up recipes that are most cost effective. A huge bag of non instant rice is like $1. Make soups %26amp; stews in the crockpot to keep in the freezer for later instead of eating out a lot. It's cheap %26amp; healthier. Use fresh vegetables too. Green beans are $1 per pound %26amp; I love that with grilled fish %26amp; rice.

Also if you have anything laying around that you don't want just sell it on ebay (fees are a little too high though now) or post it on Craigslist. I sold a ton of stuff on there for local pickup only %26amp; got extra cash.
AND SAVE. Another thing I do is that I never ever spend my change. It sounds like it's self defeating but it isn't. If my total is $1.01 I give them $2 %26amp; the remaining 99 cents goes in my piggy bank. You would NOT believe how much money I save like that. So I only give out paper money but never coins. I'm sure you could use the money later for something better but I wait for it to build up %26amp; then I take it to Vegas LOL! Also when I go to the bank I exchange any single dollars I have for gold coins. I must have at least 100 of them now %26amp; you're much less likely to spend gold coins than you are to spend a munched up dollar bill. I think my piggy bank total is around $500 or so maybe more since the beginning of this year %26amp; I don't miss the bit of change here or there on a daily basis.
Hope that helped. Sorry it's so long but I love getting %26amp; giving tips like these.Getting ready for Baby #2, Money Saving Tips, Advice?
You never can be finacially ready for a child i have 4 kids i think the key is try not to have debt like credit cards, unpaid bills i also thinks its great you want to have your children close togather so they can play and still be able to have the chance to have things in common as they grow and get older.
its really depends on your financial satiation. we don't know how much money to make and as you said you have 15 month old baby you know everything thing about baby expenses
Yes, just wait a few years longer and save plenty more during that time, what's the rush ?
either get used to having no money, get better paying jobs, or wait to have baby number two.
