My friend's quincenera, and my new start in high school are both in 6 months. I'm down to like 150 pounds, but this is when i'm weighing myself on an empty stomach in the morning.
If i jog for 30 minutes 4 days a week, at the least, and i cut down on junk food and drink a lot of water, do you think i will see major results? i'm really sick of being fat...!
If anyone has tips, i'd love to hear 'em.Some tips, advice on weight loss?
here's what i've been doing for about a week now...and i've been losing about 1.5 pounds per DAY.
okay, so i'm on South Beach Phase 1. Each meal needs to consist of a vegetable, a protein and a source of HEALTHY fat.
each meal should have at least 1 cup of vegetables. but stay away from carrots, potatoes and beets. they're full of sugar and have little nutritional value. some vegetables that i like are: romaine lettuce, spinach, sweet mini peppers, regular bell peppers, and celery.
you also need a good source of protein in each meal. i'm a vegan, so the protein i've been eating has been stuff like boca burgers, soy crumbles ((which is basically like meat-free ground ';beef';, just made out of soy)) and textured vegetable protein ((tvp)). but if you don't happen to be a vegetarian, and like to have meat, try a small skinless piece of chicken (either baked or broiled) or some turkey (make sure there's not a lot of fat) . each serving of meat should be approximately the size of the palm of your hand or your fist. some other good sources of protein for snacks are nuts (almonds, walnuts, pecans, etc) and seeds (pumpkin, sunflower, etc)
finally, each meal needs a source of healthy fat...but not too much. the most common ';healthy fat'; is olive oil. but there are others too, like flax oil or peanut oil or avocados.
as for exercise, start with a 10-minute warm-up walk at an easy pace ((i do 3.5 mph)). then stretch for 5 minutes. then do about 30 minutes of cardio. this can be anything from jogging like you said to going on an elliptical or a stair step machine or swimming...there's lots of options. finally, do 15 minutes of weight training (lower body one day, upper body the next...to give your muscles time to recover). make sure you do this EVERY DAY.
other random tips:
*drink LOTS of water...at least 64oz per day
*at more activity into your daily life, simple things like taking the stairs instead of an elevator and stuff like that
*find an exercise buddy...keep each other motivated.
*DO NOT weigh yourself every day...muscle weights more than fat, but it also burns more calories when you're resting...weigh yourself like every other day or even once a week
*track your progress...its always nice to look back to see where you started and then see where you are now.
***HAVE FUN!!!*** you're not going to stick to a diet/exercise plan if you hate every second of it. make it fun...it'll make life a whole lot easier.

Weight-Loss Calculation
Q: I have a desk job that requires little physical activity, so four to five times a week I do the Curves workout for 30 minutes. In order to lose 2 pounds a week, how many calories should I be eating?
鈥?Mari
A: While I'd need your height, weight, and age to calculate this number specifically for you, most people generally need to eat approximately 10 calories per pound of weight to maintain that weight without strenuous activity. To lose 2 pounds of weight per week, you need to decrease the number of calories you take in per day by 1,000, or expend that extra energy in working out, 鈥?which is hard to do! Try cutting 500 calories from your diet and burning 500 calories with vigorous exercise average woman will lose weight on a 1,500-calorie-per-day diet, while men can lose weight on about 1,800 calories per day. I would not go below 1,200 calories per day, however, especially since you are exercising.

Your idea is just perfect , u can't do more than that either than putting your own health in danger. Go for it , don't buy drinking products that says they make you lose weight , it works but there is always a secondary effect
